Football at Moi
Matches continue at Moi Kapsowar Girls

Matches continue at the Moi Kapsowar Girls grounds, courtesy of Momi Foundation, keeping the football season going for young players in Kapsowar ward. Watch the match video on Facebook.
Why keeping the season going matters
For young players, a season that stops is a season that is lost. Regular matches keep them training, keep teams together, and give them something to look forward to every week. Without games to play, many young people drift away from the sport and from the friends and mentors they met through it. A good ground and a steady fixture list are some of the simplest things we can provide, and some of the most valuable.

More than football
Sport at Moi Girls goes beyond football. The Moi Girls marathon in June 2023 brought students, scouts, the school band and guests out onto the field together, sport bringing the school and the ward together.

Girls on the pitch too
Football in Kapsowar is not only for boys. The second MOMI football tournament in May 2023 included a girls' match, played with real pace in front of a full hillside, and we want more girls to have regular games, coaching and teams of their own. A school ground that welcomes matches is one of the best places to start.
The bigger picture
Our football work runs from ward matches like these to full tournaments: the first MOMI football tournament in January 2023, the second in May 2023, and an Under-14 tournament across Marakwet. Along the way we have paid school fees for top students, because the aim is not just better players, but a better future for them.
