School fees for three students from Kapchesewes Children's Home

After visiting Kapchesewes Children's Home over the holidays, we promised to pay school fees for three needy students: KSh 6,000 each. On 27 January 2023 we kept that promise. Here are the receipts.

KCB fee payment receipts for three students from Kapchesewes Children's Home, 27 January 2023

Over the December 2022 holidays, the Momi Foundation team, among them Evans Koech and Ezrqn Kemboi, visited Kapchesewes Children's Home in Elgeyo-Marakwet. We spent time with the children and their carers, and made a promise: we would pay school fees for three needy students.

Keeping the promise

On 27 January 2023, we paid KSh 6,000 in school fees for each of the three students through KCB Mtaani in Kapsowar. The receipts show payments to:

  • Kapkitony Secondary School (boarding account): KSh 6,000
  • Yemit Boys Secondary School: KSh 6,000
  • Kaptabuk Mixed Day School: KSh 6,000

We have hidden the students' names, admission numbers and account details on the receipts to protect their privacy. The schools, amounts and dates are shown as printed.

Why we show the receipts

We publish receipts because trust matters. Supporters, partners and the community can see that a promise made in December was kept in January, to which schools, for how much, and on which day. It is how we hold ourselves to account. Every receipt shown here was printed on the day of payment, 27 January 2023, at the bank and agent counters in Kapsowar.

Why school fees

A term's fees can decide whether a bright young person stays in school or drops out. Paying them directly to the school means every shilling goes where it is needed. Youth empowerment and helping those in need is at the heart of our work, through education, technology and talent.

School fees are one part of our education work. We also bring computers to schools and paid fees for top students from the Momi tournament on the same day.
