Desktop computers for schools in Kapsowar
At the final of the first MOMI football tournament on 8 January 2023, desktop computers were handed over for schools, part of our goal to bring computers to more schools across Kapsowar ward.

Technology is one of the pillars of Momi Foundation's work. At the final of the first MOMI football tournament on 8 January 2023, we used the occasion to hand over desktop computers for schools.

What we committed to
At the final we shared what we were working towards for Kapsowar:
- Giving schools desktops, with a goal of reaching over 28 schools and 7,000+ primary school pupils
- Paying school fees for some students
- Training for coaches and referees, with FKF support
- Asking the ICT office to open for people to start learning coding and software from 1 February, with a first group of 20 people
- Encouraging teachers to use the ICT lab and get trained, to deliver the CBC curriculum better
- Encouraging young people to avoid drug misuse

From a team to its school
One of the teams that received a desktop in January, the Hossen Team, chose to pass it on in a special way: they presented the computer to Hossen Primary School, where pupils gathered in the school compound to receive it.

Why computers in primary school
Kenya's Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) makes digital literacy one of the core skills every learner should build. That is hard to teach without a computer in the school. Primary schools in rural Marakwet often have few or no computers. A single desktop lets a teacher show a class how to type, search and create, and gives pupils their first hands-on time with technology. Read more in Digital skills in the classroom.
Through Momi, young people are making an impact on technology and talent, and we are working to provide more computers to more schools across Kapsowar ward in Elgeyo-Marakwet. Support this work.
