Digital skills
Hands-on computer sessions and scholarship support help young people from Marakwet join the digital economy.

Hands-on computer sessions and scholarship support help young people from Marakwet take part in the digital economy. Technology is one of Momi Foundation's pillars, because skills built here, stay here.

Computers where students are
You cannot learn computing without a computer. At the final of the first MOMI football tournament on 8 January 2023, we handed over desktop computers for schools, with a goal of reaching more than 28 schools and 7,000+ primary pupils. One team, the Hossen Team, presented its desktop to Hossen Primary School.

Learning to code
We also asked the ICT office to open its doors for people to start learning coding and software from 1 February 2023, with a first group of 20 people, and encouraged teachers to use the ICT lab and get trained, so they can deliver the CBC curriculum better.
Keeping students in school
Digital skills only help if students stay in school long enough to use them. That is why we pair technology with scholarships, like the school fees we paid for three students from Kapchesewes Children's Home and for the best students of the Momi tournament.
Scholarships and supplies
Our Education & Tech programme backs high-potential students from low-income families with scholarships, and provides school supplies, learning materials and support for school infrastructure. A computer in the classroom helps most when the students around it have the books, the fees and the time to learn.
Women in tech
Our Education & Tech programme has a particular focus on digital literacy for women entering the tech sector, so that more young women from Marakwet can build careers in technology.
